There is no “if” about it! There is a God who is all powerful and all loving.  If I were a god I might do or not do such and such, but I’m not. I don’t know the mind of God and it’s a waste of time thinking about it. I do know I’m a father and wish the best for my children, but that doesn’t mean I want them never to suffer.  If they do bad things or even make mistakes they should suffer – that’s how we learn.  Our suffering can make us sympathetic with the suffering of others, giving us an opportunity to care for them, to be unified with them, to love them, as God loves us.
