Should there be laws against MAID and abortion?

As a Catholic I am opposed to both MAID and abortion (except in very specific circumstances where the mother's life is at risk). As a Canadian Catholic I support our democratic government and realize our elected representatives must make the best decisions for everyone as they see it even though I and my church disagree with some laws they do or don't pass. But I'd like to hear other opinions.
